Vehicle classes — what you actually get
We rent six classes of vehicle. The class you pick determines the daily rate, the trunk space and how comfortable a long highway day will be:
- Economy — smallest, cheapest, best gas mileage. 1 large bag, 4 passengers in a pinch. Hyundai Accent or similar.
- Compact — the sweet spot for solo travelers and couples. 2 bags, easy to park. Toyota Corolla or similar.
- Mid-size — same outside as compact, more legroom. Best value-per-comfort tier for two adults plus light luggage.
- Full-size sedan — full back seat for adults, 3 large bags. The default business pick. Toyota Camry or similar.
- SUV (mid & standard) — families, road trips, anywhere with snow or unpaved access roads.
- Premium / Luxury / Convertible — late-model only, the only tier where the make and model is guaranteed.
How our pricing works
The rate you see is the rate you pay — no airport concession fees, no surprise add-ons at the counter. Five things to know:
- Insurance — your personal auto policy and most premium credit cards already cover short-term rentals. Decline our $25/day Loss Damage Waiver unless you're sure you're not covered elsewhere.
- Mileage — unlimited miles on most bookings. A few one-way and premium rentals cap at 150-200 mi/day; we flag this before you confirm.
- Age surcharges — drivers under 25 pay $25-$30/day extra. Booking with a 25+ primary driver and adding a younger second driver is often cheaper.
- Additional drivers — $13/day, free for spouse / domestic partner. Always add the second driver at the counter — driving without being on the contract voids the insurance.
- One-way drop fees — picking up in one city and returning in another can add a fee. We always show it before you confirm — never at the counter.
Three quick tips to pay less
- Book early, free-cancel, rebook — lock in the lowest rate you see today, then re-check every few days. If the price drops, rebook and cancel the old one for free.
- Off-airport beats on-airport — same fleet, no airport concession fee. Often 15-30% cheaper for the same vehicle class.
- Weekday pickups beat weekend pickups — leisure demand spikes Friday afternoons. A Thursday or Monday pickup can be 20% cheaper.

Do I need a credit card to rent a car?
Yes — we require a credit card in the primary driver's name at pickup for the security deposit. Debit cards are accepted at some pickup locations but usually require a credit check, proof of return travel, or both. Confirm the location's payment policy at the time you book.
What's the minimum age to rent a car?
The standard minimum age is 21 years old, with a daily young-driver surcharge of $25–$30/day for renters aged 21-24. In a few states (notably New York and Michigan) we rent to drivers as young as 18 by law. Premium and luxury classes typically require drivers aged 25+.
Can I add an additional driver?
Yes. The standard additional-driver fee is $13/day, but spouses and domestic partners are free on most bookings. Always add the second driver at the counter — driving the rental without being on the contract voids the insurance.
What happens if I'm late picking up the car?
We hold your reservation for about 2 hours past the scheduled pickup time at airport locations and 30-60 minutes at off-airport branches. After that the car can be released to a walk-in renter. If your flight is delayed, update the pickup time in your reservation as soon as you can — most changes are free up to the original pickup time.
Is your insurance worth taking?
Often not. Your personal auto policy usually extends to short-term rentals, and most premium credit cards (Chase Sapphire, Amex Platinum, Capital One Venture) include primary or secondary collision damage waiver when you pay for the rental with the card. Decline the counter upsell unless you've confirmed you have neither.
Can I cancel my reservation for free?
On most "pay at pickup" bookings, yes — up to 24 to 48 hours before pickup. Prepaid (non-refundable) bookings are 10-15% cheaper but can't be cancelled. We recommend booking the free-cancellation rate, watching the price for a few days, and switching to prepaid only if you're 100% sure of the trip.
